GSB Raises Funds and Food for the Dare to Care Food Bank
Gwin Steinmetz & Baird is pleased to announce its successful participation in the second annual Kentucky Legal Food Frenzy from March 15 to April 2, 2018. This year, GSB raised financial and food donations for the Dare to Care Food Bank (daretocare.org). GSB raised $735.00 in financial donations and finished the donation period on April 2, 2018 as the top mid-sized firm in financial donations. Food banks can leverage every $1 dollar donation into 8 times more food than a donation of a $1 food item because they can buy in bulk. GSB also collected 50 pounds of food donations.
The Food Frenzy is a statewide fund drive competition among Kentucky law firms, law schools and legal organizations to support the members of the Kentucky Association of Food Banks. The campaign is sponsored by the office of Attorney General Andy Beshear, the office of Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes and the Kentucky Bar Association Young Lawyers Division. Over 700,000 Kentuckians, including more than 200,000 children, struggle with hunger. Yet only one in 13 school-aged children who receive free and reduced-priced lunch during the school year have access to such meals during the summer months. The Legal Food Frenzy is timed to provide a much-needed supply of resources to Kentucky’s food bank network to meet increased demand during the summer months when schools are closed.
GSB is proud to be a part of this worthy cause!
