Ashton is a native of Louisville, Kentucky. She attended the University of Kentucky and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 2020. She then obtained her Juris Doctor from the J. David Rosenberg College of Law at the University of Kentucky in 2025.

As a student, she gained valuable experience from positions in many organizations, including a Staff Editor on the Kentucky Journal of Equine, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Law, and as a member of the Trial Advocacy Board. While in law school, she received awards, such as the Judge Jennifer B. Coffman Judicial Internship Award and the National Bar Association Corporate Law Section 2024 Gateway to Success Award.

Upon graduation, Ashton was admitted to the Kentucky Bar Association. She joined Gwin Steinmetz and Baird in 2025 as part of their long-term care defense team.
