GSB’s employment litigation team has experience defending and advising clients in a variety of labor and employment matters. Specifically, we have handled multiple workplace discrimination cases, including claims of race, sex, religion, national origin and age discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Kentucky Civil Rights Act, the Americans With Disabilities Act and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act. We have also successfully represented clients in cases involving retaliation, common law employment claims and the enforcement of non-competition agreements.

Our attorneys are knowledgeable about issues arising under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act in addition to experience advising our clients about the interplay between the Family and Medical Leave Act, worker’s compensation and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Our team also has experience handling employment-related charges pending outside of the court system. We have successfully resolved charges filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights and the Louisville and Jefferson County Metro Human Relations Commission.

Even though our employment practice is litigation-driven, GSB understands the importance of helping our clients avoid employment litigation altogether. We provide consultation and front-end advice regarding employment decisions and assist our clients implement measures to protect themselves in the event a lawsuit or charge is filed. These measures include employee training and drafting anti-discrimination policies, employee handbooks and harassment reporting procedures. We have also assisted our clients with correctly classifying their employees under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Our lawyers have a history of successful verdicts when trial is necessary. But we also have years of experience with various forms of alternative dispute resolution when circumstances dictate that litigation is not the best option for our client.
